About Us
Overtis is a leading provider of User Activity Management solutions and is an expert in information protection and compliance. We work with public and private sector organisations that are exposed to the risk and cost of misuse of sensitive information, IP or business process.
We tackle the insider threat, which accounts for the majority of data misuse incidents. Our flagship product, Overtis VigilancePro, focuses on user activity, monitoring and managing how users access, process, store and transmit sensitive information, and how they engage and interact with company assets and resources.
In this way, Overtis VigilancePro detects and prevents unintentional, malicious or fraudulent data misuse, ensures critical business process integrity and secures regulatory, legislative and internal policy compliance.
In its’ various forms, it delivers information protection and compliance, in any geographical market, for government, public services and enterprise, increasingly for vulnerable sectors such as retail and credit card services.
The company is privately held, and is headquartered in Theale, in the United Kingdom – this is where the sales, marketing and R&D functions are based, along with a fully equipped demonstration and training facility. We also have a presence locally in South Africa.
Company history
Overtis was founded in 2003 (as Optic Vision), and in 2004 began offering integrated physical security solutions. We became profitable within our first year of trading, and have experienced consistent year on year growth ever since.
In January 2008, we acquired Silent Knight Technologies Ltd – the organisation that developed the core technology underpinning our flagship product VigilancePro.
In February 2008, we secured the financial backing of investment firm Beringea, allowing us to fund further strategic product development.
November 2008 saw the Overtis group of companies rebrand to reflect its focus on information assurance and the integration of logical and physical technologies.
On July 23 2010, Digital Barriers plc acquired the business and assets of the Overtis Group’s Solutions Division, effectively divesting itself of the hardware element of the business and thus allowing Overtis to focus fully on the information security software side of the business.
